Primary Care Volunteer- American Red Cross

The American Red Cross is seeking Primary Care volunteers to assist at the 28th Medical Group, Ellsworth Air Force Base . Volunteers must have current base access. A  six month commitment minimum commitment is required for all positions unless otherwise mutually agreed upon. Volunteer opportunities are available during weekdays (Monday-Friday) 7:30 am- 4:30 pm. Some positions may require a 4 or 8 hour time commitment per shift.

Pharmacy Volunteer Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and strengthen the Red Cross mission
  • Duties vary upon area.
  • Duties may include: administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing computer/data entry; providing comfort items, chair/bedside assistance; information and referral
  • Clinic duties may include: surgical prep; runner; charting; reception; prepare patient for treatment, obtaining vitals
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality
  • Licensed/Medical Professionals: Work under direct supervision and guidance of Department or Clinic, or Officer in Charge. Perform duties within the scope of license and training. Level of responsibility will vary according to level of education, training, and experience of the individual. Duties will vary based on license type and volunteer location

Qualifications:

  • Additional security clearance may be required in compliance with government regulations
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions; willingness to learn
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Basic administrative skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good communication, to include listening skills
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • For licensed/credentialed positions only:
    • Board certification in the medical specialty area as required by the Medical Treatment Facility
    • Current/valid hospital approved credentials to practice in a specialty area
    • Valid certification in BCLS, ACLS, PALS or other life-saving course required by MEDDAC and credentialing personnel
    • Immunizations are required

Training:

  • Orientation to the American Read Crossredcross-logo.png.img_
  • Any required clinic/hospital orientation/ training
  • HIPAA training
  • On the job training
  • All appropriate In-service training as determined by supervisor
