HOSPICE VOLUNTEER NEEDED

Hospice of the Hills seeks volunteers to provide support to patients and families who are facing a life-threatening illness.  Volunteers may volunteer in people’s homes throughout Pennington, Custer and Fall River counties, or visit someone in a nursing home, or work at the Hospice House, which is located in Rapid City.

HABITAT RESTORE INVENTORY VOLUNTEER

Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Spearfish seeks volunteers to assist customers in unloading donations form their vehicle and preparing donations to be sold by cleaning items, making minor repairs and assembling items.  This opportunity is in Spearfish.

LAKOTA EMERGENCEGALLERY GREETERS

The Rapid City Arts Council seeks volunteers to serve as Gallery Greeters during the Lakota Emergence events Wednesday, May 6th through Saturday, May 9th, in the John T. Vucurevich Event Center at the Dahl Arts Center.  Duties for Greeters may include welcoming visitors to the Dahl, offering directions, minding the art works and exhibit space, distributing information, answering questions, ensuring the space is tidy and referring inquiries to appropriate staff members.

DRUM GROUP AT PENNINGTON COUNTY JAIL

The Pennington County Jail seeks volunteers to conduct a weekly Drum Group.  Volunteers will utilize spiritual core valued to assist inmates with recognizing spiritual and healthy cultural behavior.  The goal of the program is to help prisoners re-own cultural values that may have gone astray.

LIFE INC YOUTH & CHILDRENS MINISTRY

Seeking volunteers ages 16 and older to assist with youth and children’s ministry classes. Children range from infants to 14 years of age.  Kids are divided into groups according to age and assigned group leaders.  Volunteer group leaders rotate with the children through stations which include activities such as reading bible stories and doing crafts.  This is a 2-hour commitment each Thursday night for a 9-week quarter.

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY DRIVERS NEEDED

The American Cancer Society needs friendly, compassionate drivers to transport cancer patients to and from medical appointments as a part of its “Road to Recovery” program.  Drivers are needed Monday-Friday, will use their own vehicles, must have a good driving record, a valid driver’s license, a serviceable car with seatbelts and adequate insurance coverage.  Volunteer orientation is provided.

CHILDREN’S HOME OF THE BLACK HILLS

Strong volunteers are needed on Friday, April 24th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to move office furniture and equipment from its Child Advocacy offices at 321 Kansas City St, #2A, Rapid City, to the new location at 1330 Jolly Lane.  Volunteers are welcome to bring carts & dollies if they have them.  Lunch will be provided @ 1 p.m. for all volunteers.
