Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Black Hills Adopt A Classroom program is matching volunteers with students in a structured school setting. There are three schools to choose from.
Volunteers will meet with their students one hour a week to work on homework, reading, games, etc. They will also get to know each other to build a friendship. This is a one school year commitment and you must be at least 16 years old to volunteer.

Purr ‘n’ Ruff Rescue needs volunteers to assist with fundraising events, taking part in dog walks and, in general, helping to raise awareness of Purr ‘n’ Ruff Rescue/Black Hills Rescue Transport’s activities in the Rapid City area.

The Humane Society of the Black HIlls adoption team needs assistance with stuffing our adoption packets for families to take home. This will involve making copies and stuffing folders.

Spirt of the Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is now accepting volunteer groups every second Saturday of the month.
Spirit of the Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is a non-profit agency run exclusively by volunteers caring for approximately 400 exotic animals and educating the public about their safety.
Assistance is needed with various projects as constructing decks, remodeling buildings, painting buildings, lay cement, tear down fence and reconstruct fence, install metal roofing, move small buildings, pull weeds, plant trees, build enclosures, and the lists goes on……. They can use approximately 30 people per day. Work generally starts about 7:30 am and end by noon.
Spirit of the Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is located at 500 Tinton Road in Spearfish. To get to the sanctuary–take exit 8 off the interstate and head South approx 3 miles to the top of the hill they are on the left about a 1/4 mile past the curve in the road.

The Ellsworth Chapel is in need of Active Duty volunteers to assist with the Catholic and Protestant children/youth programs.

- Protestant Children’s Church Program
- AWANA – A weekly Bible based children’s program
- CCD: Catholic religious education program
