Pennington County Emergency Management needs your help!

Pennington County Emergency Management is partnering with Rapid City Area Schools to provide emergency kits for each classroom in the school district.

The kits for younger grades will include a colored armband for use in an evacuation due to an emergency. The armband will help with reunification if students are transferred to a different facility. Each class in a particular school will have a different color so as not to have two classrooms with the same color designation.

Volunteers with sewing machines are needed to sew these armbands. For more information, call 605-394-2185

Black Hills Symphony League needs Volunteers for Homes for the Holidays tour

Volunteers are needed for the Homes for the Holidays tour, an event of the Black Hills Symphony League. The event is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at five homes throughout area. Volunteer shifts are 2 1/2 hours long.

Volunteer’s will be stationed throughout the home to help with traffic flow. Money raised supports the Black Hills Symphony and music outreach for the Black Hills region which includes music scholarships for the youth.

Mobile Food Pantry needs Volunteers at General Beadle Community School

The Mobile Food Pantry, a collaborative between Feeding South Dakota and the General Beadle Community School.

Five volunteers are needed from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, Nov. 18 and Dec. 23 to help with the Mobile Food Pantry at the General Beadle Community School. Volunteers will help with bagging and distributing food. Come to the East Parking Lot of General Beadle Community School.

Kids Against Hunger – Rapid City seeks Superheros

Kids Against Hunger Rapid City seeks volunteers and volunteer groups interested in participating in the Superheroes Against Hunger pack from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. Cost is $20 per adult and $10 per child.

The Latin Rice meals will be delivered to kids locally and around the world.
Costumes are encouraged.

Volunteers needed for Annual Parade of Lights

The Festival of Lights Parade will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26, in downtown Rapid City. Volunteers are needed to secure the parade route and ensure the safety of those that attend. Volunteers need to be at least 16 years old.

Volunteers would need to attend a safety briefing at 2 p.m. From this briefing they will receive their assignment and go to secure the route. The parade begins at 6 p.m. and we are usually done by 8 p.m.

Volunteers needed for Dahl Arts Center Event this weekend – “It’s Okay, I’m From the Intenet”

The Dahl Arts Center is looking for volunteers Saturday, October 15 with a celebration of folk art of modern day – internet culture: “It’s Okay, I’m From the Internet.” The fun will be held in the John T. Vucurevich Event Center

This is an Adults ONLY Event!! This production contains content that is deemed appropriate for Mature Audiences. RESTRICTED. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian due to strong and frequent language.

– Bartenders needed: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM – Seeking 2 bartenders for this event serving beer, wine, pop, and water. Bartending experience is not necessary.

– Face painter: 6:30 PM- 9:30 PM – Seeking an unskilled face painter to poorly paint faces in the “I like turtles” face painting booth. It is silly and fun!
