YFS Kids Fair

Volunteers are needed for the YFS kids fair happening 5, 6, and 7 April.

Our shifts of need include:
April 4th and 5th – 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 pm and 11:45 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
April 6th – 11:45 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Children’s Miracle Network

We are needing volunteers to help put our Valentines Surprise packages together on Thursday, February 13, starting at 8a.m. The volunteers could do 1 or 2 hour shifts or stay until we are done which will be about noon depending on how many volunteers we have. We will be set up in the Rushmore Room in the hospital, which is right across from the Admissions desk in the main lobby of the hospital.

9th Annual Diamonds and Denim Dinner Theatre fundraising event

Youth & Family Services is looking for 50 volunteers to assist with the 9th Annual Diamonds and Denim Dinner Theatre fundraising event Feb. 7 & 8. Volunteers are needed to help serve dinner to the guests, clear tables, offer beverages, assist with clean-up in the kitchen and attend to the hat and coat check-in both nights of the event. Dress is a white shirt, dark pants and comfortable shoes. Volunteers are also needed to help with the Saturday morning tableware set-up. All volunteers will receive a complete dinner provided by Outback Steakhouse – a delicious 17-seasoned grilled sirloin, a chicken breast, mashed potatoes, garden salad, and a dessert on the night they volunteer. Volunteer work schedule is:

Feb. 7
5-10:30 p.m.

Feb. 8
9 a.m.-Noon. Set-up tableware and minor kitchen prep.
5-10:30 p.m.

Feeding South Dakota

Feeding South Dakota is looking for a 6-8 dedicated volunteers to help sort food donations on a weekly basis for their food bank and backpack program.  The preferred day would be Fridays, but they can work with anyone’s schedule.  They’re asking for about of an hour or so each week.  The Feeding South Dakota warehouse is located at 1111 N. Creek Drive, just off I-90 exit 60.

This is a great opportunity to help fight hunger in our community.  If you are interested and can volunteer on a relatively consistent basis, please contact Ryan Chocholousek at 348-2689 to arrange a schedule.  If possible, they would like to have some people available to start this Friday, January 10.  Thanks for your support!

We Have a Dream Day!

We are looking for volunteers to assist with We Have a Dream Day! MLK 2014 on Monday, January 20. It will be a day of fun, fitness and learning activities for people with disabilities who are supported by Black Hills Works. We are looking for people to man stations and assist and encourage people to participate. Stations involve: Refreshment Table, Registration/Check-Out/Prize Table, Basketball, Interactive Live Music, Bean Bag Toss, Nutrition Education, Safety Education, Chair Aerobics, Just Dance Video Game, Recycling Education, Scooters, Golf Ball Balance Race, Health Awareness and Parachute Activities.
It will take place at the Black Hills Works Gymnasium, 3603 Range Road, Rapid City. The event will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, with volunteers needed from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (includes set-up and tear down time). Volunteers need not be present the whole day, even an hour of assistance is appreciated. Lunch will be provided to those who volunteer during lunchtime.
