American Cancer Society seeking Patient Mentors

If you have breast cancer, you may want to talk to someone who knows what you’re feeling-someone who has “been there.”

The American Cancer Society Reach to Recovery is looking for women who have had breast cancer (one year post treatment) who want to be mentors to other women who are facing a diagnosis, diagnosed or going through treatment. Volunteers, will guide the patient through every step of their breast cancer experience. Training is available.

Mobile Food Pantry needs your help!

The Mobile Food Pantry, a collaborative between Feeding South Dakota and the General Beadle Community School, seeks five volunteers on 27 May 2016 from 1:30 – 3:00 to help with the Mobile Food Pantry at the General Beadle Community School. Volunteers will help with bagging and distributing food.

Box Elder Bash 4th of July Community Celebration Seeks Volunteers

Box Elder’s annual community celebration, Box Elder Bash, will be held on 2 July 2016 in the field north of the hardware storeĀ on Ellsworth Road, Box Elder. Volunteers are needed for two hour shifts between 11:00 am – 10:00 pm to assist with parking lot patrol, admission, visitor information, trash removal and porta-potty paper supply.

Volunteers must be 18 years of age and older and have the ability to be outside for about two hours in high temperatures. (No air-conditioning is available)
