Storybook Island seeks volunteers to put up Christmas lights on any of the following dates – Oct 3, 10 and 17. Volunteers begin hanging the lights at 9 a.m. and continue until 3:30 p.m. Volunteers are welcome to work shorter shifts if needed.

Lunch with Soldiers Seeking Military Members

Lunch with Soldiers: This is an amazing opportunity to give back to the schools!

This will be a weekly event on Wednesdays from 1200-1300 where you will eat lunch in a classroom while interacting with the students, then participate during recess time. You will come to the office and check-in, the address is 10 Van Buren Street (south of the Mall). Please come and make a difference in these students lives and put a smile on their faces!

Storybook Island Seeks Volunteers for Once Upon a Festival Event – 12-13 Sept

Once Upon a Festival is a major fundraiser that helps Storybook Island remain a free park.

This event is held the weekend after the park has closed and a nominal fee is charged for entrance. Games are provided for the children – some free some for a small price. Prizes are at each station.

They are in need of volunteers to man the games. A sampling of games provided are: Princess and Pirate makeover, Treasure Chest Dig, Pirate Hook Ring Toss, sack races, bouncy castle and several more.

The event is Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12-13. Volunteers are needed for the following shift times each day: 9:15-1:15, and 1:15-5:15. It’s a wonderful time to stop and smell the roses while being part of a child’s joy. Volunteers must be 16 or older.

Western South Dakota Senior Services Meals Program Seeks Volunteers to Answer Telephones

Western South Dakota Senior Services Meals Program seeks volunteers to answer telephones from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday. Volunteers can volunteer for one or more days, depending on their interest. Volunteers must be 18. The Meals program provides meals to seniors in our community.

Feeding South Dakota – Rapid City Needs Volunteers to Pack Backpacks

Feeding South Dakota – Rapid City needs volunteer groups to pack backpacks for Rapid City students during the 2015-2016 school year. Packs take place at 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Volunteers separate and pack food into bags which are then delivered to schools for students each Friday.

Victims of Violence Intervention Program in Spearfish is Seeking Volunteers

The Victims of Violence Intervention Program in Spearfish seeks volunteers to assist with store donations. Duties include sorting donations, hanging clothes and greeting and assisting customers. The Boutique is also an outreach center for those who have experience domestic violence. Confidentiality is crucial.

Love Inc. Seeking Volunteer Delivery Person/Driver

Love Inc. seeks a volunteer Delivery Person/Driver who will pick up students from their home and provide rides to Love Inc. classes. Volunteers will also provide a ride home after classes. Volunteers must be 25, have proof of a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record. Vehicle insurance is required.

Black Hills Works Seeking Volunteers

Black Hills Works seeks volunteers to help out with morning games – Bocce Ball, Wii, golf, Ladder Ball – before the opening ceremonies for the World’s Largest Truck Convoy from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19. The Convoy benefits Special Olympics South Dakota. Lunch is provided for volunteers. Location is at the Soule Building at the Central States Fairgrounds.
