Each Christmas the Crisis Intervention Shelter Service, Inc. (CISS) delivers food boxes to families in need. Each food box contains enough food to provide the family a special Christmas meal. Boxes are available for pick up at the CISS, 832 Sherman Street, Sturgis or you can fill any container and return to CISS.

Storybook Island is looking for your help with Christmas Nights of Light. Volunteers can assist in a variety of jobs, including selling cocoa, cookies, train tickets and or gift shop items. Volunteers may also take admission and keep a count of visitors.
Volunteers must be willing and able to count change, be trained to drive the train and follow rules set by Storybook Island Staff for each activity.

WAVI is requesting volunteers to provide child care for clients attending their in-house support groups and education classes. Child care may also needed during a client’s meeting with a WAVI case manager. This opportunity requires a background check.

The Mobile Food Pantry, a collaborative between Feeding South Dakota and the General Beadle Community School, seeks five volunteers to help with the Mobile Food Pantry on Dec. 18, at the General Beadle Community School. Volunteers will help with bagging and distributing food.

Do you like to work in an office? Are you good with customers? If the answer is yes, the Humane Society of the Black Hills could use your help in their Customer Service Department.
Community members call with questions and make frequent visits. Help is needed to greet customers and answer questions. Additionally, volunteers may be asked to stuff envelopes, make paper copies, etc.

Volunteers are needed to assist with the Shoe & Mitten Party from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Goodwill Store, 611 Lindbergh Ave, Rapid City.
